Windy Hill School

Since 1976, the college’s early childhood laboratory school has provided opportunities for Colby-Sawyer students to integrate course learning with early education classroom experience.

At Windy Hill, you’ll learn about appropriate early childhood practices through direct interaction with toddler, preschool and pre-kindergarten students. Working alongside faculty and classroom teachers, you will research, develop and deliver developmentally based programs that enhance children’s understanding of the self and awaken intellectual curiosities.

Licensed by the N.H. Department of Health and Human Services, Windy Hill boasts child development faculty with doctoral degrees who integrate the college curriculum with lab school experiences, as well as highly qualified and degreed classroom teachers credentialed by the N.H. Department of Education or N.H. Department of Health and Human Services Child Development Bureau.

A Healthy, Safe & Fun Environment

In 2010, Windy Hill School was relocated to a grassy hillside overlooking Mount Kearsarge. In keeping with the college's commitment to creating an environmentally sustainable campus, the award-winning $2.4 million LEED-Silver Certified facility was built using green and recycled materials and features high-quality air circulation, water and energy conservation systems. Designed with children in mind, the bright and welcoming two-story school is filled with natural light, beautiful maple woodwork, durable furniture, safe play areas, and vibrant rugs and art work.
