Important Updates about Applying for Aid

We want to keep you informed about a recent development from the US Department of Education. On January 30th, it was announced that colleges will not receive student FAFSA data until mid-March. We understand that this delay can be a source of stress for both students and families.

At Colby-Sawyer, we genuinely care about your concerns. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our financial aid team. We are here to help and happy to hear from you.

Here are a few important points for consideration.

What can you do now?

  • If you have already filed a FAFSA, great job! This is the first step to receiving a financial aid offer.
  • If you haven't filed your FAFSA yet, there is still time, and doing so makes you eligible for the $1000 FAFSA incentive. Access the FAFSA form here.
  • Learn more about Colby-Sawyer by visiting us!

What’s next?

  • If you’ve filed your FAFSA, you’ve done all that is needed right now.
  • Contact the financial aid office with any questions or concerns you may have.
  • Students can anticipate receiving student financial aid offers from Colby-Sawyer starting mid-April.

Your peace of mind is important to us, and we are committed to supporting you through this process.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

FAFSA Priority Deadline

March 1 is the priority deadline for submitting completed FAFSA applications. By meeting this deadline, the Financial Aid Office can package and provide a financial aid offer to you with as much decision-making time as possible before the May 1 Enrollment Deposit deadline. If you miss the March 1 priority filing deadline, you are still encouraged to submit a FAFSA.

How to Submit Your FAFSA

The FAFSA can be filled out and submitted online at fafsa.ed.gov, and is available starting in December 2023. You do not need to wait for an admission decision from Colby-Sawyer before completing and submitting the FAFSA. Be sure to select Colby-Sawyer as one of the colleges to receive a copy of your FAFSA.

FSA ID

Create a FSA ID to access the Federal Student Aid’s online systems. The FSA ID also serves as your legal signature on the FASFA.
