Robert J. “Bob” Campe has been named vice president of Finance and Administration at Colby-Sawyer College, a comprehensive college that integrates the liberal arts and sciences with professional preparation.
Campe has more than three decades experience in financial and soft fund management, auxiliary and physical plant operations, human resources, general administration and banking negotiations. He is currently the vice president of Administration and Finance at Elmira College in Elmira, New York. Campe will begin his work at Colby-Sawyer on July 10.

Stuebner. “He brings considerable breadth and depth of experience from relevant roles at excellent institutions that will enable him to be an immediate and important contributor. Bob has demonstrated his ability to work collaboratively, and I know he will be an effective partner in shaping Colby-Sawyer’s financial and administration foundation.”
At Elmira College since early 2016, Campe oversees the director of College Operations (whose areas include buildings, grounds, the bookstore, purchasing, logistics and legal services) and the controller (whose areas include accounts payable and receivable, the bursar, audit) as well as the Food Service, IT and Human Resources Departments.
Inquisitive by nature, Campe likes to encourage his staff to understand and question processes in order to improve them without forcing change for change’s sake.

Prior to Elmira, Campe was the Associate Director of Academic Financial Planning at the Suffolk University Law School as well as the University Wide Director of Finance and Administration for Suffolk University in Boston. He has also held posts at the University of Michigan, where he was recognized with the 2012 Annual Diversity Award; Dartmouth College; 3Com Corporation and Northwestern University.
Campe is a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) and a member of College and University Professional Association-Human Resources (CUPA-HR); an active past member of the American Library Association and the American Bar Association (Administrative Member). He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Loyola University of Chicago and a master’s degree in business administration from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
Bob and his wife, Courtney, have been members of the New London community since 2002. They have two adult daughters, Mary and Casey, who reside in Chicago.
