Online Learning: Software & Hardware Requirements

Minimum Hardware and Software Requirements for Moodle© Course Interaction

If you are registering for online and hybrid courses at Colby-Sawyer College, please be aware that your professor will expect you to have computer software and program requirements that will allow you to fully participate in online course work. All students taking online or hybrid courses at Colby-Sawyer College must meet the following minimum technology requirements.

Internet Access:

We recommend using Broadband or high speed internet connection. This includes DSL, cable or wireless connections. Access to the internet with 56k or a faster connection is preferred.

Browser:

Firefox is the preferred browser for Moodle for both PCs and Macs. A free version of Firefox is available at: Firefox.com

Other:

  • Headset with microphone.
  • USB webcam (if one is not built into your computer).
  • Access to a printer.
  • Access to a scanner as some courses may require scanned documents to be submitted.
  • Portable mouse.
