Diane Edwards

Joined faculty in 2013. B.A. from Merrimack College; M.A. from Lesley University; Ed.D. from University of Massachusetts; Professor Edwards is an infant and toddler development specialist with teaching and research experience in preschool curriculum and child wellness.

Darius Kalvaitis

Assistant Professor, Social Sciences and Education

Joined faculty in 2013. B.A. & B. S. from New England College; M.Ed. from Antioch New England Graduate School; and Ph.D. from Utah State University. His teaching philosophy is rooted in Experiential and Place Based Education. His research interest focus on young children's relationships with nature with specific emphasis on using child friendly research methodologies. He has co-written and implemented multiple federally funded grants focusing on Environmental Education and STEM Education.

Darcy Mitchell

Associate Professor, Social Sciences and Education

Joined faculty in 2010. M.A. in Early Childhood and Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology from Boston College. Professor Mitchell has worked with children, families, and care providers in a variety of capacities, including as director of an Extended Day Program for preschool and elementary school children and as a representative of the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition. Prior to joining Colby-Sawyer College, she was the project manager for a longitudinal research study investigating the needs of children with disabilities and their families. Professor Mitchell has special interests in developmental theories, parenting, children with special needs, and diverse families.
