The Humanities Department at Colby-Sawyer offers a minor in Women's and Gender Studies founded on a strong theoretical base that the student encounters in his or her introduction to Women's and Gender Studies. The sequence of required courses is designed to foster critical thinking by encouraging informed examination of the student's own life. The minor can be combined with any major.
With permission of the instructor and the department chair, qualified students may develop independent study courses in areas not ordinarily offered at the college. Each independent study course is developed in consultation with a faculty member in the Humanities Department. Only one independent study course may be used to meet the requirements for the minor.
The Harrington Center
Students are encouraged to use the resources of the Harrington Center, where they can meet with a counselor to explore career options, internship opportunities and graduate schools.
