2018-19 Annual Report of Gifts

Greetings from Colgate Hall,

I would like to thank the 2,382 alumni, parents and friends who supported Colby-Sawyer College last year. Through your generosity, the college raised a record $10.6 million and successfully completed the Power of Infinity Campaign. Both of these accomplishments are especially important as Colby-Sawyer operates in a highly competitive landscape.

One of the new fundraising initiatives this past year was the college’s first annual Day of Giving in which more than 800 donors participated. The success of this event far exceeded our expectations and illustrated yet again the spirit and commitment of the Colby-Sawyer community.

Your gifts help sustain the college’s ongoing commitment to the core components of our strategic plan and our educational mission. Specifically, your support enables us to offer engaged, individualized learning, with every student completing an internship and a capstone project in their major. Over the past three years, we have raised more than $1 million to support experiential learning opportunities. Your generosity has also helped fund our most critical need, scholarships and financial aid. Colby-Sawyer awards $25 million per year so that students of all backgrounds can attend the college. This past year, we were thrilled to add 27 new endowed scholarship funds and we will continue to focus on this priority moving forward.

Your investment in the college and our students has a profound impact on our outcomes. Ninety-nine percent of recent graduates were employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation, and our nursing students have a four-year average pass rate of 99.25 percent on their professional certification, the National Council Licensure Examination.

As we enter 2020 and the start of a new decade, the college will shift its focus to health and wellness while preserving our roots as a vibrant residential college with a curriculum based in the liberal arts and sciences. Our mix of new and traditional majors will offer our students exciting opportunities for learning on campus as well as providing pathways to meaningful careers.

Thank you for your ongoing support of this very special college and our talented students.

Kind regards,

Susan D. Stuebner Ed.D.
President and Professor of Social Sciences & Education
