Senior Commencement Speaker

The Commencement Speaker Medal is presented to a student who represents the character of the graduating class and will give an inspirational and engaging speech that represents the college’s values and learning outcomes.

Morgan Forrest ’18

Morgan Forrest, a business administration major with a concentration in marketing and a minor in graphic design from Brewer, Maine, is a multitalented member and leader of the Class of 2018. She embodies the class’s diverse academic and cocurricular pursuits as well as Colby-Sawyer’s dedication to a liberal arts-based education.

A Wesson Honors student and member of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society as well as the Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society in Business, Management and Administration, Morgan is recognized not only for her scholarship but also for her public speaking skills, as demonstrated at multiple alumni and trustee events.

A self-described Renaissance woman who pushes herself to expand her horizons, Morgan has been highly involved in endeavors across campus since she arrived, including as a tour guide and Blue Key Society Member. She has been an active member of the Student Government Association since her sophomore year, serving as a senator and secretary and now as vice president of the Class of 2018. She is also active in theater and a four-year member of the Campus Activities Board.

As a resident assistant and member of the National Residence Hall Honorary, Morgan was a strong advocate for the ideals and goals of the college. In 2016, she was recognized as Breakout RA of the Year; this year she held the title Senior Resident Assistant.

Last summer, Morgan completed an internship focused on corporate events with the direct marketing agency Royall & Company, where she had the opportunity to view higher education from a new perspective. Read more about her experience here. On campus, she is a student employee in the President’s Office.

In nominating her to deliver the Senior Address, “History Has Its Eyes On You,” one fellow senior noted that “Morgan’s diverse background of experience and leadership at Colby-Sawyer, her dedication to its ideals and principals, and her passion for this school and our class make her the perfect candidate for our class’s commencement speaker.”

After graduation, Morgan will take a much-anticipated vacation to Hawaii before pursuing a career that fulfills her love of helping people through marketing and graphic design.
