The Susan Colgate Cleveland Medal for Distinguished Service is the college’s highest honor. It is presented to individuals who exemplify Susan Colgate Cleveland’s attributes, ensuring that her work, dedication and influence will be remembered by future generations.

Robin L. Mead ’72

Alumna and Former Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees

Robin L. Mead ’72 earned an associate degree from then-Colby Junior College in 1972 and a bachelor’s degree in government from the College of William and Mary in 1975. Upon graduation, she worked as a professional golfer, both as a touring pro and as an assistant pro at a private country club. Later, Robin served as a partner for the Mead/JRRR Corporation in Endicott, N.Y., a privately held, family-owned company involved with property management, investing and venture capital.

Robin has been a devoted alumna and volunteer for the college. She served on the Board of Trustees from 1998 to 2007, and again from 2008 to 2018, serving as vice chair of the board and chair of the Advancement Committee. She served on the presidential search committees in 2006 and 2016. She has been a class agent and reunion chair, and she served on the Power of Infinity Campaign Steering Committee from 2015 to 2018 and the Trustee Campaign Planning Task Force from 2019 to 2021. She has made Colby-Sawyer a philanthropic priority, supporting initiatives that will have the greatest impact on students, like the creation of The Stable, the college store in the Ware Student Center. Robin was awarded the Colby-Sawyer Distinguished Alumni Award in 2018.

Robin has also made extensive contributions as a volunteer in the Binghamton, N.Y. area. She received both the Health Leadership Award from the United Health Services Foundation and the Woman of Distinction Award from Girl Scouts of New York-Penn Pathways, Inc. She is a former trustee of the Binghamton University Foundation, United Health Services Foundation and Binghamton Philharmonic.
