Student Learner Categories Defined

Residential Student Learner

If you are a residential student, you reside in college owned residential properties.

Residential student learners are expected to:

  • Complete Daily Wellness checks.
  • Complete/participate in random/directed testing.
  • Comply with all quarantine or isolation directives.
  • Practice physical distancing; wear face masks; refrain from attending social gatherings and/or other events that may create any undue increase of virus transmission.
  • Comply with the revised travel policies and procedures as outlined here.
  • Comply with the revised student guest and visitation policies and procedures as outline here and other COVID-19 related policies and procedures.

Residential student learners alleged to have violated these college policies and/or expectations will be referred to the Department of Citizenship Education for resolution.

  • Student(s) who are found to be responsible for violating the revised travel, guest, quarantine, isolation and/or any other COVID-19 related policies will likely have their housing contract revoked, be restricted from campus or college sponsored events, and/or be suspended or dismissed from the college.

Note: No refunds for tuition, fees, or room and board are given for violations of the Code and/or other student conduct/disciplinary matters.

​Remote Student Learners

If you are a remote student learner you have received approval from the Academic Affairs Coordinator to complete your studies remotely.

Students whose classes are fully remote and do not have a need to come to campus are not required to abide by the same COVID-19 testing protocols as students who take classes on campus (residential, commuters, hybrid learners). If remote student learners need to come to campus for any reason (i.e. meeting with administrator or professor, visiting a residential student on campus [excluding the residence hall or college owned houses], Hogan Sports Center, Library, and/or academic offices), those students must:

  • Report to the Campus Safety office upon arrival and identify that they are a remote learner;
  • Check-in with Campus Safety the reason for the visit to campus;
  • Have their temperatures taken and answer the required health screening questions.

Students who have a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or greater, or who have answered yes to any of the health screening questions, will be required to immediately leave campus.

Remote student learners are not permitted to visit college owned residential properties for any reason without receiving prior approval from the department of Residential Education, Campus Safety, Citizenship Education, Vice President/Dean of Students or Designee. If a remote student learner receives approval to enter a residential facility, the remote student learner will need to be accompanied by a professional staff member of one of the departments outlined above.

Remote learners who come to campus on any regularly scheduled basis are expected to:

  • Complete Daily Wellness checks.
  • Complete/participate in random/directed testing.

Remote student learners alleged to have violated these college policies and/or expectations will be referred to the Department of Citizenship Education for resolution.

  • Student(s) who are found to be responsible for violating the revised travel policy (as applicable), guest, quarantine, isolation and/or any other COVID-19 related policies will likely be banned from campus, and/or be suspended or dismissed from the college.

Commuter Student Learners

If you are a commuter student learner you have received approval from Residential Education to NOT reside in College owned residential properties.

Hybrid Student Learners

If you are a hybrid student learner you have received approval from the Academic Affairs Coordinator to attend some classes in-person and other classes remotely. (Email Academic Affairs Coordinator) Hybrid student learners are permitted to reside on campus or off campus. *Hybrid student learners who live on campus, are residential student learners for the purposes of this document and those expectations apply.

Commuter student learners and hybrid student Learners are expected to:

  • Complete Daily Wellness checks.
  • Complete/participate in random/directed testing
  • Minimize travel as much as possible; practice physical distancing; wear face masks; refrain from attending social gatherings and/or other events that may create any undue increase of virus transmission.
  • Comply with the revised travel policies and procedures as outlined here.
  • Comply with the revised student guest and visitation policies and procedures as outline here and other COVID-19 related policies and procedures.

Commuter and hybrid student learners alleged to have violated these college policies and/or expectations will be referred to the Department of Citizenship Education for resolution.

  • Student(s) who are found to be responsible for violating the revised travel policy (as applicable), guest, quarantine, isolation and/or any other COVID-19 related policies will likely be restricted from campus and college sponsored events, and/or be suspended or dismissed from the college.
