This week we'll celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day at Colby-Sawyer by hosting an entire week of fun events designed to educate and inspire our community. We hope you'll join us in taking action to “green” our campus and make the world a better place for everyone.

One Man's Trash: Recycled Sculpture Contest
Day-long recycled sculpture contest in Dining Hall. Come and see who can build the tallest sculpture in 10 minutes! Materials provided.

Earth Day Environmental Expo

  • Local Produce Market, Ivey Science Center, Room 101, 6 - 7 p.m. Featuring information and produce from local vendors and farmers' markets, including Spring Ledge Farm and Star Lake Farm, along with Colby-Sawyer's own maple syrup and Sodexo Sustainable Dining.

  • “Is Local Better?” Local Food Panel Clements Hall, Ivey Science Center 7 p.m. Organic farmer and community-supported agriculture (CSA) advocate Larry Pletcher of the Kearsarge Mountain CSA will explore the benefits of eating locally produced food. He will be joined by local farmers Greg Berger (Spring Ledge Farm) and Zac Lamas (Sun Hill Farm), chef Jerod Rockwell, and licensed certified nutritionist Linda Howes.

Cash prizes will be offered for your best poem. Come read a poem or listen to others' powerful poetry. Lethbridge Lodge; 7 p.m.

Lights Out Competition in Residence Halls
Students for a Greener Campus, CAB and SIFE are sponsoring a lights out competition from 8 - 9:30 p.m. The darkest residence hall wins a pizza party!

Bring Your Own Music! Sponsored by Students for a Greener Campus (SFGC), CAB and the Outing Club are hosting music and other activities such as an ultimate Frisbee tournament as part of the event.
