Colby-Sawyer's LGBTQ Community

Colby-Sawyer offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and gender expansive community members.

  • Our student-led LGBTQ+ Resource Center, located in the basement of Colgate Hall, is open 24 hours a day for students to borrow LGBTQ-themed books, videos, and magazines or use the space for quiet study or socializing with friends.
  • PRIDE, a student-run organization working to create a welcoming environment for lesbian, gay male, bisexual, and transgender community members, holds weekly meetings and hosts campus events.
  • The college's LGBTQ Safe Zone sticker program helps to create safe and affirming environments for all members of the community.
  • Colby-Sawyer has supportive faculty and staff who openly identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual.
  • The college has gender-neutral bathrooms in the main academic and administrative building, as well as in several residence halls.
  • Colby-Sawyer regularly hosts campus-wide events that address LGBTQ issues or that may be of interest to LGBTQ community members.
  • The college has established a director of retention and student success to ensure that the needs of varied populations are served.
