Explore a career in teaching by pairing a minor in education with the major of your choice for a strong foundation in elementary and secondary education. Combine courses in child development with an education curriculum focused on teaching methods, practices and the role of technology. Experienced faculty guide you in making connections to content in your major, supervise your classroom teaching experience, and help you to prepare for state teacher examinations, licensure and graduate programs, or a career in education.
Apply your knowledge and skills at a local public school or at Windy Hill School, the college’s own early childhood laboratory school. Course assignments requiring you to observe, research, or plan and implement activities can be done at both the Windy Hill School and at local elementary schools. Work-study positions are also available to further broaden your experience working with young children.
