Colby-Sawyer College is a small, liberal arts college with enrollment of approximately 1,000 students located in New London, New Hampshire. We are hiring a Dean for the School of Nursing and Health Sciences who will provide leadership for our existing nursing and allied health programs as well as the development and implementation of new health-related programming.
As Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center’s (DHMC) nursing school, we have a strong partnership with the DHMC and are working closely with their leadership to identify workforce educational needs. Programs in the School include: M.S.N. in Clinical Nurse Leader, B.S., Nursing, RN to BS (online), B.S. in Public Health, B.S. in Exercise Science, and B.S. in Athletic Training. This is a 12-month position that reports to the Academic Vice President and Dean of Faculty.
Provides collegial leadership for the School’s faculty, staff, and students and should have a strong presence on campus. Responsible for academic and strategic planning for the School, including new program development and program changes that align with the institution’s strategic plan, our commitment to liberal education, and our partnership with DHMC. Leads program accreditation (CCNE, CAATE), and serves on the steering committee for the College’s regional (NECHE) accreditation. Establishes and maintains effective professional partnerships and community relationships resulting in enhanced curricular opportunities, student internships, and employment opportunities for graduates. Develops and effectively manages the human, physical and financial resources of the School. Actively supports fundraising efforts by the college’s Advancement office. Manages the hiring and evaluation process for School faculty and staff. Fosters and contributes to institutional leadership and collaboration across admissions, academic area, and student development offices.
The Dean must be a registered nurse with a doctoral degree, a minimum of 5 years of administrative experience in higher education, and experience teaching in a health-related field or supervising healthcare faculty. Our ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a proven record of building positive relationships and managing budgets. We seek a leader who demonstrates evidence of leadership in organizational and change management; experience designing and implementing new programs and initiatives; a strong record of proven ability to lead a complex organization while articulating a clear vision and goals, and thoughtful deployment of resources in order to achieve strategic ends.
