Position Summary

Graduate & Professional Studies Admissions counselors actively recruit prospective students for the doctoral, graduate and professional studies programs at Colby-Sawyer College. This is accomplished by executing a variety of methods; telephone outreach, interviews, counseling, application review and participating in various recruitment-related special events and projects are all significant functions of this position. This person is a results-oriented enrollment professional who always represents and promotes Colby-Sawyer in a manner that advances the enrollment goals of the College.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the College both on-and off-campus within your assigned territory to prospective students, employers, college admissions counselors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process.
  • Fulfill all aspects of the recruiting process for prospective students in academic programs and territories to fulfill the enrollment goals of Colby-Sawyer College.
  • Successfully complete in-person, telephone and virtual contact with prospective students to help and encourage them to understand policies and procedures and complete all admission processes utilizing available technology.
  • Coordinate and plan recruiting activities for the assigned territory/programs.
  • Make public presentations related to recruitment initiatives on campus, virtually and at off campus locations.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Colby-Sawyer administrative personnel, faculty, and Deans to ensure best practices and efficient workflow.
  • Confer regularly with VP for Admissions and Financial Aid, Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid, Marketing, and other campus personnel and constituencies to plan, coordinate, participate in activities, exchange information, resolve problems, with the goal of maximizing the overall effectiveness of recruiting students.
  • Review admissions applications, complete preliminary transfer credit review, and determine admission decision action for both Colby-Sawyer applicants for specified doctoral, graduate and undergraduate applicants.
  • Maintains prospective student database and creates sequential messaging with enrollment marketing.
  • Maintain strong understanding of current programs, policies, and procedures including: academic programs, financial aid policies, business office policies, nursing licensure qualifications and processes, state educational certifications, and international student application requirements.
  • Monitor, understand and analyze recruitment-related data, reports and other quantitative information to identify progress and potential areas of focus or improvement at each stage of the admissions funnel from inquiry through enrollment.
  • Meet the enrollment expectations/goals for assigned recruiting segments (assigned by programs/territories and/or delivery methods) in relation to budgetary goals and objectives.
  • Develops and implements recruitment and partnership initiatives to grow enrollment in professional learning programs.
  • Travels primarily within New England to establish new corporate and community college partnerships.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with administrative and academic areas at Colby-Sawyer as appropriate to best achieve enrollment goals.
  • Support and maintain the mission and strategic goals of Colby-Sawyer College as appropriate.
  • Reviews and suggests updates to graduate & professional studies web pages, program one sheets, CRM automated messaging at all stages of the funnel.
  • Admissions liaison to Deans and all graduate & professional studies population program coordinators.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Prior college admissions or sales experience preferred.
  • Understanding of the goals, objectives and challenges associated with recruiting for a small, private liberal arts institution.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Comfortable presenting to groups in person and virtually.
  • Able to interact effectively with a wide variety of constituencies, including prospective adult learners, college and healthcare administrators and faculty and members of the Colby-Sawyer college community.
  • Able to effectively prioritize, organize and complete multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to analyze and interpret data. Prior experience working in a CRM (Target X) preferred.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends and attend recruitment events as needed.
  • Able to conduct day travel up to 1-2 days per week. Must have a valid driver’s license.
