College is about academics — and about learning who you are outside of your studies. Whether you collect art supplies or memorize lines, Colby-Sawyer offers more than 50 clubs and organizations to express yourself and pursue your passions. Here are some favorites that take the creativity and community of the arts beyond the studio:
Broaden your understanding of modern Japanese culture with the Anime Club. Discuss anime and manga with other students interested in animation and graphic novels, and collaborate on projects.
Explore a variety of dance styles and techniques, from classical ballet to hip hop and jazz, and showcase your creative talents in the club’s productions as a dancer or choreographer.
Participate on stage, or behind the scenes, in small-scale productions that promote theater appreciation across campus and in the community. Engage in opportunities to write your own scripts and discuss theater with other students who appreciate stage performance.
Join talented college and community vocalists for performances that appeal to a variety of musical tastes.
Use your body as an instrument to create complex rhythms and sounds. Combine traditional, historical and modern dance moves to create percussive performances that mix footsteps, spoken word and hand claps.
Study and analyze international film movements from the 1950s to the present, and create your own short films that explore elements from each movement.
Combine letters and pixels for submission to the college’s literary magazine featuring fiction, nonfiction, poetry, photography and visual arts.
Publish your innovative writing and visual art pieces in the biannual The Third Line anthology and its weekly webzine.
