Featuring Colby Vokernick '25My CSC Story

What do you get when you combine a hardworking Wesson Honors student, a major in nursing, a minor in healthcare management, a student ambassador for the admissions department, a member of the Presidential Blue Key Society, a strong passion for theater and this year’s president of the Colby-Sawyer theater? You get an amazing Colby-Sawyer College sophomore named Colby Volkernick ’25!

Originally from Rumford, Maine, Colby chose to come to Colby-Sawyer for the clinical opportunities at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. “I love the small class sizes, community of New London and the New England seasons,” he said.

This past summer, Colby hiked around western Maine and worked as an emergency room tech at Rumford Hospital. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, acting, volunteering and anything involving nursing.

Colby has gained a lot since arriving on campus last fall. “I have become more comfortable with others and have become more involved in activities I never would have thought I would do,” he said.

Colby is excited to get the semester underway and to complete his performing arts minor this semester. His future plans include working as an RN and going on for his master’s degree in nursing. His long-term goal is to be a nurse practitioner specializing in emergency medicine.

When asked to describe himself, Colby said, “I believe I am very approachable and love to stay busy. If I am not studying, you can find me giving a tour on campus, hanging out with friends or on the stage.”
