Daniel KaiglerCoach’s Corner

Daniel Kaigler wouldn't know what to do if he wasn't coaching. “It’s so much a part of me now,” he said.

Kaigler has been playing basketball for most of his life. “I played basketball from a young age,” he said. “My entire family played. I probably started when I was six years old.” Kaigler continued to play through college, starting at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania then transferring to Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., for his last three years.

Kaigler said that being able to work under his former coach at Le Moyne College inspired him to become a coach himself. Kaigler said he wants to “change lives” and contribute to future generations just as his coaches shaped him and helped him in his career. Kaigler does not see himself “fit for a 9-to-5 job,” so coaching seemed a perfect fit for him.

Kaigler began his coaching career at Le Moyne College during the 2018-2019 season, and the University of Rochester from 2019-2020, serving as an assistant coach. He is the third head coach of the men's basketball program in Colby-Sawyer history and is going into his second season with the team.
