Adventures in Learning Reaches Ten-Year Milestone

NEW LONDON, N.H., May 9, 2008 – Adventures in Learning, Colby-Sawyer College's lifelong education program, will hold a ten-year anniversary celebration on Thursday, May 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Wheeler Hall at the Ware Campus Center on the New London campus.

“The festivities will focus on the organization's association with the college over the past decade and on honoring the people who have made the program such an extraordinary success,” says Adventures in Learning President Betsy Boege.

The afternoon's events will include an address by Julien LeBourgeois, chairman of the organizing committee that founded the Adventures in Learning program. Another highlight, offered by Morris Edwards, will be the special recognition of study group leaders who have taught courses since the program's inception.

The centerpiece of the celebration will be presentation of a tenth anniversary gift to the college. The gift, reflecting the unique and supportive town-gown relationship between the community and the college, will be presented on behalf of Adventures in Learning members drawn from every town in the Kearsarge-Lake Sunapee Region as well as many outside the area.

“Several surprises are in store,” promises Sharon Ames, the original Colby-Sawyer coordinator of the Adventures in Learning program. One of these is a premiere showing of a visual ten-year retrospective designed by Maureen Rosen, which captures the history of the organization through the people who have been an integral part of its great success.

A reception will cap the afternoon's celebration. All Adventures in Learning members, the news media and supporters of the program are invited to attend. Reservations are required and should be made with Janet St. Laurent by Friday, May 16, at (603) 526-3690 or jstlaure@colby-sawyer.edu.
