Record-breaking Year for Colby-Sawyer Fund

For the first time, gifts to the Colby-Sawyer Fund exceeded $2 million. Every gift to the Colby-Sawyer Fund provides operational support for the college's highest priorities, and has a profound impact on a student's life and the well-being of the campus community.

“The Colby-Sawyer Fund plays a key role in the success of the college and truly makes providing a positive experience for all students possible,” said Chris Reed, director of Annual Giving and Advancement Services. “We are deeply grateful for the generosity of alumni, parents, friends and employees of the college for helping the Fund surpass this year's goal and reach a new level of achievement.”

More than 2,600 alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends came together to support the 2013-2014 Colby-Sawyer Fund. Fifteen percent of Colby-Sawyer alumni contributed; the 2014-2015 goal is to build on the financial strength of last year's results while increasing alumni participation to 18 percent.

Colby-Sawyer's Annual Report of Gifts may be viewed at In thanking donors, President Thomas C. Galligan Jr. wrote, “Your support makes higher education possible for students who could not otherwise afford it. Your support allows us to buy the equipment and materials we need to teach today. Your support underwrites faculty course development, teaching, innovation, research, and creative endeavors. Your support improves the experience of our students in athletics, on stage, in field studies, and in co-curricular activities. In short, we would not be the Colby-Sawyer we are without your generous gifts.”
