Colby-Sawyer College Celebrates Grand Reopening of Ware Student Center

NEW LONDON, N.H., Feb. 28, 2013 - Colby-Sawyer College will celebrate the Ware Student Center's Grand Reopening on Tuesday, March 5, at 4 p.m. Students, trustees, faculty, staff, architects and community members will commemorate the $7 million renovation and expansion with remarks, tours, refreshments and entertainment.

Renovations have transformed a modest campus building built in 1950 into a modern student center, with 12,752 sq. feet of renovated space and 14,020 sq. feet of new construction. The project began shortly after Commencement in May 2012 and was completed in early February 2013.

The new center includes an expanded multi-level dining area, a new mailroom and office space, seminar rooms for events or classes, and meeting rooms for student clubs. With its 24-hour access and close proximity to resident halls, the center has become a more inviting place for students and community to gather.

The celebrations will begin at 4:15 p.m. with formal remarks from President Tom Galligan, Dean Dave Sauerwein and Dining Services General Manager Mike Heffernan, followed by a tour of the new center. A specially designed cake will be cut and served at 4:45 p.m. and an open mic session at 6 p.m. will serve as the celebration's grand finale.

Gift cards to Dunkin' Donuts, Subway, Nonni's Italian Eatery, and the Flying Goose Brew Pub & Grille will be distributed to attendees.

The event has been made possible through the efforts of students enrolled in the BUS 347 Event Management course.
