Colby-Sawyer Opens its Historic Campus as Venue for Weddings and Events

Colby-Sawyer College has opened its historic campus to the public for corporate and special events. Located in the sophisticated New England town of New London, N.H., and surrounded by mountains and lakes, Colby-Sawyer offers a variety of venues that accommodate up to 415 guests.

With its picturesque grounds and Georgian-style brick buildings, Colby-Sawyer, founded in 1837, offers a beautiful four-season backdrop for special occasions and corporate events. “The rich foliage of the surrounding mountains provides the perfect setting for autumn reunions while crackling fires in our Lodge's fieldstone fireplace add warmth to winter conferences,” says Events Coordinator Kathy Mitchell. “Gardens full of blooms greet guests as they enter our ballroom to celebrate spring weddings. Peaceful fields and on-campus amenities provide endless options for hosting summer camps and programs. I can't think of a better place for an event.”

For business functions, including mixers, seminars, lectures and summer camps, Colby-Sawyer College offers classrooms, large and small halls, and auditoriums. With a comprehensive list of state-of-the-art equipment, the staff can meet each client's specific needs. During academic breaks, Colby-Sawyers' residence halls are available for on-site lodging.

Onsite catering and a menu of fair-trade products and locally-grown produce mean that Executive Chef Henry Doyle, a graduate of the Baltimore International Culinary Institute, and his staff can ensure a menu will meet clients' visions for their events. The college also welcomes the opportunity to work with outside caterers and vendors. Colby-Sawyer is located on New London's Main Street and is within walking distance to chic boutiques, inns, banks, eateries, recreational and specialty shops. The college, just 45 minutes from Manchester Regional Airport and 90 minutes from Boston, has easy access to major interstates.

Mitchell invites those considering Colby-Sawyer for their next event to make an appointment to view what the college has to offer.

Mitchell, a Cornell University graduate with a dual major in Management and Marketing, joined Colby-Sawyer in February 2013. She previously worked for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Washington, D.C., as Associate Executive Director and Director of Special Events. She has also planned events for the Hilton Head Island Resort in South Carolina and held other hospitality management positions.
