Nina Hills ’22 Prepares for Medical School

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biology, Nina Hills '22 moved back home to Jacksonville, Florida, to spend some time gaining professional experience before applying to medical school.

Nina, who was the senior commencement speaker at the 2022 ceremony, currently works for the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants (FAPA) as its membership engagement specialist and exhibitor coordinator. In this position, Nina must balance working remotely and traveling for business, and she said she is excited to be in a position that pushes her beyond her comfort zone.

“I was recently in Nashville for the first exhibit at our national convention,” Nina said. “While I was exhibiting, I had the opportunity to not only network but attend a few of the House of Delegates meetings to hear legislative updates and discussions regarding new bills, laws and statutes. It has been very interesting to see how much politics has a hand in the medical field — and its importance.”

In addition to strengthening her professional experience, Nina said that her position has provided her tremendous networking opportunities with medical professionals.

“I am learning a lot about how the vast number of careers within the medical field work cohesively,” Nina said. “In addition to a wonderful executive team, I have also obtained mentors who are encouraging and supporting me in my medical field aspirations. I am truly blessed to have this opportunity.”

The most recent outcomes report from the Harrington Center for Experiential Learning indicates that, like Nina, 100% of the Class of 2022 is employed or in graduate school. Read more about Colby-Sawyer graduate outcomes.
