Colby-Sawyer College welcomed eight new faculty members to campus this fall. Full-time faculty members teach roughly 80 percent of all Colby-Sawyer classes and are a key factor in the college being ranked second in the region by U.S. News & World Report in its Best Undergraduate Teaching Category.

Brandon Arvesen
Assistant Professor
School of Arts & Sciences

Brandon Arvesen joined the faculty in 2022. He received an MFA in creative nonfiction from Goucher College, an MA in writing from Johns Hopkins University and a BA in English with a concentration in secondary education from Goucher College. Prior to teaching at Colby-Sawyer, Avesen taught at Goucher College, in the Goucher College Prison Education Partnership and in the Baltimore City Public School System. He is the founding editor of 3cents Magazine and a contributing editor to True Magazine.

Cory Dinsmore
Assistant Professor
School of Arts & Sciences

Cory Dinsmore joined the faculty in 2022. She received a BFA in unified art, pre-K-12 education from Northern Vermont University and is currently completing an MFA in graphic design at Vermont College of Fine Arts. Dinsmore draws on experience in graphic design, teaching and mental health to meet people where they are to help them learn.

Iris Fischer-McMorrow
Assistant Professor
School of Arts & Sciences

Iris Fischer-McMorrow joined the faculty in 2012/2022. She received an MVB (DVM equivalent) from University College Dublin and a BA in anthropology from Mount Holyoke College. Fischer-McMorrow is a licensed veterinarian in N.H., Mass. and Vt., with experience as a pharmacovigilance, associate, relief and team veterinarian. She has had multiple research affiliations with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, most recently on a project in Iceland hosted by the University of Iceland’s Research Center. At Colby-Sawyer, she received the Nancy Beyer Opler Award for Excellence in Academic Advising in 2014.

Megan McGinnis
Assistant Professor
School of Nursing & Health Sciences

Megan McGinnis joined the college as an adjunct member in the spring semester 2022 and became an assistant professor in the fall of 2022. She received her BSN from Rivier University and received her master’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University in 2021. Professor McGinnis specialized in Maternity nursing and currently teaches in both the classroom and clinical settings. McGinnis has worked as a staff nurse on the birthing pavilion at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center since 2015. In addition, McGinnis works as a preceptor for Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center’s Nurse Residency Program.

Michael S. Staunton
Assistant Professor
School of Business & Social Sciences

Michael Staunton joined the faculty in 2022. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of New Hampshire. Staunton’s teaching interests include crime and legal studies, and justice studies. His research interests include the study of drug use in rural adolescents and examining behaviors leading to well-being.

Jason C. Vallee
Assistant Professor
School of Business & Social Sciences

Jason Vallee joined the faculty in 2022. He holds a Ph.D. in human organizational development from the Fielding Graduate University in California. A winner of several teaching and leadership awards, Vallee’s teaching interests include economic decision-making, organizational behavior, and leadership. He joins us from the field of healthcare administration where he developed programs to promote physician excellence.

Nanci Weinhold BS, RN
Assistant Professor
School of Nursing & Health Sciences

Nanci Weinhold started teaching clinicals at Colby-Sawyer in 2019. She is currently enrolled in an NP program at Regis College and works at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center as a house supervisor on a per diem basis. As nursing faculty at Colby-Sawyer, she teaches in both the accelerated and traditional nursing programs in the classroom and clinical settings.

Kim Grover BS, RN
Assistant Professor
School of Nursing & Health Sciences

Kim Grover joined the college as an assistant professor in August of 2022. She earned her ADN from Trociare College in 1998, BSN in 2017 from Franklin Pierce University, and MSN in 2019 from Chamberlain University. Grover instructs clinical groups in Medical-Surgical settings. After completing her MSN in 2020 she worked for both Keene State College and River Valley Community College as adjunct faculty. Grover currently works as a staff RN and charge nurse per-diem after working full-time since January of 2005 at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital.
