David H. Winton Baccalaureate Award

The David H. Winton Baccalaureate Award is presented to the graduate who ranks highest in scholarship among those in the graduating class.

Jenna Guilmain ’23

Jenna Guilmain ’23, a nursing major from Haverhill, N.H., has distinguished herself as an exceptional nurse and scholar. Jenna will be a second-generation Colby-Sawyer nurse, as her mother also earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the college.

Nursing will be Jenna’s second career, as she has worked as a certified paraoptometric technician at Hanover Eyecare for almost eight years. It was this first career that sparked Jenna’s interest in healthcare and inspired her to enroll in the college’s nursing program. Since then, she has developed a passion for cardiology and patient care.

In addition to her individual academic achievements, Jenna received the 2023 Nursing Capstone Award with her Capstone group for their project with Farmsteads of New England, a supportive day and residential program for adults with disabilities. Jenna’s group worked with the direct support professionals at Farmsteads to expand their education regarding medication administration and to increase their confidence in their knowledge.

Jenna is a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society, the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the Student Nurses Association. In March, she was one of two nursing students to represent Colby-Sawyer at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Student Policy Summit in Washington, D.C.

In her free time, Jenna enjoys hiking, biking and paddleboarding, as well as baking, sewing and film photography. After graduation, she will start a position at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in the Intermediate Cardiac Care Unit.
