Professor Cahoon joined the faculty in 2007. He teaches a variety of courses in the physical sciences and mathematics, including Introduction to Physics I and II, Introduction to Astronomy, Quantitative Reasoning, Calculus I and II, and an Honors course on the topic of Aliens. He has been involved in the integration of quantitative literacy across the curriculum, and he continues to be engaged in scholarship on quantitative literacy for college students.
Professor Cahoon is also co-PI on a grant from the National Science Foundation for the EMERGE program. His research interests are in the mathematical modeling of physical systems with differential equations. In particular, he is interested in the physics of ice surfaces as it relates to natural phenomena like crystal growth and snowflake formation.
