Director of Student Success & Retention
The Office of Student Success and Retention can help you transition to college, connect with your community and achieve success.
Arriving as a first-year student, you will find yourself in a new living environment that involves building relationships, making dining choices and facing academic rigor. These lifestyle changes require creating a work-life balance, which is not always easy.
Individuals and offices across campus are here for you during those crucial first weeks, and throughout your time as a student. You can count on your professors, academic advisor, Resident Assistant (RA) and others at Colby-Sawyer.
Peer Mentors are upper class students who have been trained to help you problem solve and achieve your goals. At least one mentor is embedded in each First Year Experience (FYE) class to share important information about thriving in college. In addition, they can meet up with you for weekly talks, meals, exercise or study time — all good ways to help you meet other students. Peer Mentors remain available to you as a resource throughout your time at Colby-Sawyer. If you would like to request a 1:1 match with a mentor, please contact the Director of Student Success and Retention.
Engaging in activities outside the classroom helps you develop connections with classmates and community members — and helps make Colby-Sawyer feel like home.
Faculty and staff across campus collaborate to offer services that meet your needs. The Office of Student Success will help you navigate the resources that are right for you so you can take charge of your educational experience.
