Senior Commencement Speaker

The Commencement Speaker Medal is presented to a student who represents the character of the graduating class and will give an inspirational and engaging speech that represents the college’s values and learning outcomes.

Riley Keezer ’24

Riley Keezer, of Andover, New Hampshire, a sport management major with a minor in business administration, came to Colby-Sawyer for the opportunities presented in the sport management program and athletic department. However, he believes that his most valuable experiences at Colby-Sawyer came from the connections and relationships he formed during his time at the college, which he says taught him lessons, created countless memories and shaped who he is as an individual.

Riley was been a member of Emerging Leaders and the Campus Safety Advisory Committee, and he served as a resident assistant. He was also a founding member of the sport management Club, for which he served as secretary. But Riley is best known as the public address and play-by-play announcer for Colby-Sawyer Athletics, which is how he earned the soubriquet “Voice of the Chargers.”

Riley made a tremendous impact on his classmates. One nominator said, “Riley Keezer has continuously shown his love for Colby-Sawyer throughout our four years here. He is actively involved in the community and has a passion for bringing people together.” Another said, “He encompasses the best of us. His character and integrity are beyond question.” A third classmate summed up his support for Riley by saying, simply, he “matches the vibe of our class so well.” While Riley was creating a strong impression on the Colby-Sawyer community, it was also making an impression on him. Riley says that the most important thing he learned during his time at the college is the power of diligence and persistence, and the belief that if a person invests enough effort in reaching their goals, they will meet with success.
