Colby-Sawyer Award

The Colby-Sawyer Award is given to the senior who, in the opinion of the faculty, best exemplifies the ideals of the college in personal dignity, intellectual growth, contribution to campus life and constructive influence on other students.

Erin Lamb ’24

Erin Lamb ’24, a nursing major from Wallingford, Connecticut, is a compassionate leader and diligent scholar. She consistently excels academically, as demonstrated by her selection to the dean’s list every semester of her collegiate career and her induction into societies including the Alpha Chi Honor Society and the Wesson Honors Program.

Erin’s commitment to nursing extends beyond the classroom. She is an active member of the Student Nurses Association and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Her dedication to improving healthcare standards is also evident through her participation in nursing service trips to Ecuador and Morocco, where she learned about international healthcare services and performed important physical assessments for students in kindergarten through high school and their families.

At Colby-Sawyer, Erin has been involved as a tutor for the Student Learning Collaborative, where she supports peers academically while fostering an environment of collective success and intellectual growth. She credits her clinical work at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, coupled with mentorship from nursing faculty, for equipping her with substantial practical skills and knowledge, and preparing her to make a significant impact in her future career.

“Erin Lamb stands out as an exceptional senior student, embodying qualities that make her a true asset to the Colby-Sawyer community,” said one faculty member. “Her consistent commitment to honesty, academic integrity and accountability shines through in both her school-related and clinical work. Erin's upstanding character, self-motivation and radiant positive energy make her a standout student.” Erin has accepted a position at Yale New Haven Hospital in the medical intensive care unit following graduation. In the future, she plans to further her expertise by obtaining a critical care registered nurse certification and specializing in high-intensity patient care settings.
