Financial assistance may be available to help pay for tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and transportation. See if you qualify for federal student aid in the form of grants, loans and/or work-study funds by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

FAFSA Priority Deadline

Completed FAFSA applications must be submitted by March 1 to meet Colby-Sawyer’s priority deadline.

How to Submit Your FAFSA

The FAFSA can be filled out and submitted online at, and is available starting October 1 for the following academic year. You do not need to wait for an admission decision from Colby-Sawyer before completing and submitting the FAFSA. Be sure to select Colby-Sawyer as one of the colleges to receive a copy of your FAFSA.


Create a FSA ID to access the Federal Student Aid’s online systems. The FSA ID also serves as your legal signature on the FASFA.

Colby-Sawyer may contact you via the email address or addresses on your FAFSA to request additional documents. It is your responsibility to check your email for these communications.

CSS Financial Aid Profile

You are not required to complete a CSS PROFILE.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

Satisfactory academic progress (SAP) is required in order to receive both federal and institutional financial aid. When the SAP requirements are not met, federal and institutional aid will be removed until satisfactory status is achieved.
